File formats
Project and design formats
Section titled “Project and design formats”| Format | Use |
|---|---|
| .camj and .camj.json | PureCutCNC project files. Opening a project may migrate an older supported format. |
| SVG and DXF | 2D design import; SVG is also available for 2D export. |
| STL, OBJ, and STEP/STP | 3D model import. STL is also available for 3D export. |
| PNG and JPEG | Backdrop images for sketch reference. |
Project format compatibility
Section titled “Project format compatibility”PureCutCNC saves project files in format 3.2. Opening an older supported project can migrate it in memory and show a load warning; the file on disk is unchanged until you save it. For projects saved before format 3.2, a warning counts any inside or outside edge routes whose stored entry was reset to Plunge to match how v0.4 cut them. Check those routes before machining; see Entry and exit moves.
An older PureCutCNC build warns that a format 3.2 project was created with a newer version. It may open the file, but it may not understand every feature correctly. Keep a copy before opening or saving a newer-format project in an older build.
Output formats
Section titled “Output formats”| Format | Use |

| STL | Binary or ASCII 3D mesh export. |
| SVG | 2D vector export. |
| One-operation setup booklet. | |
| Machine, theme, and language JSON | Portable configuration or customization data from their respective managers. |
