Post-processor converter
The Post-processor Converter is a developer command-line tool in the PureCutCNC source repository. It extracts literal, supported settings from an external CAM post and writes a draft machine definition plus a conversion report. It is not an in-app importer.
Running the converter
Section titled “Running the converter”From the app repository, run:
npx tsx src/postProcessorConverter/cli.ts --input <file> --output <file.json>Use the supported input format and optional CLI flags shown by --help. Keep the original post and generated report with the output while reviewing it.
Formats
Section titled “Formats”The converter has adapters for supported external post formats, including Autodesk CPS, Mastercam PST, SheetCAM, Vectric/Estlcam, Visual Mill, ArtCAM, and ECam sources. It extracts only what it can identify safely; unsupported machine types or evaluated control flow are reported rather than guessed.
Report
Section titled “Report”The command writes the requested machine definition JSON and a neighboring .report.json file, and prints a human-readable report. The report records extracted fields, defaults, omissions, and blockers so that you can distinguish an observed setting from a generic fallback.
After conversion
Section titled “After conversion”Import the JSON through Manage machines, review every field, and test with a harmless program. Do not use a converted definition as-is for a production machine until its output has been checked against the controller and the source post.
